Sorry if this is a weird question, but I was wondering what kind of Harry Potter themed stuff goes on at the Yule Ball? I’d like to go but live several hours away so just wondering what would be going on. Also do most people dress up in like Hogwarts uniforms? Thanks!
First and foremost the Yule Ball is a dance! We’ll have a DJ playing music with small bits of entertainment throughout. This year we have MinnProv coming to do a small Harry Potter themed bit. As for dress, many people dress semiformal/formal. That means dresses for women, and button downs/ties/slacks for men. However, we do host a a costume contest as well. These costumes do not need to be limited to Harry Potter themed costumes!
Hey, guys!! Good job at the second week of games! Everyone played really well :) Here’s just a reminder that we will be hosting a YULE BALL on December 6th! Here’s a link to the event page. It’s gonna be super fun, so make sure you invite your friends!!!!
We had a wonderful turnout at our first week of games!!! Everyone really played hard out there!! Here’s a reminder that when your team is supposed to ref, you need to stay and actually ref the game. Other than that, this was a great start to a great season!!! See you next week! :)
Minnesota Quidditch had its registration today! It was a huge success with 187 people registered along with multiple people planning on registering in the coming days/week. Which makes us the number one league in the world!!!
Hey, guys! Hope you had fun at the informational meeting!! This is just a reminder that registration is THIS SUNDAY the 15th from 1pm to 3pm in The Cube! If you don’t know where that is, there is information regarding that on the FB event page. Remember to bring $15 to register!!
For those that are interested, there will be a SUPER FUN informational meeting held at the University of Minnesota regarding our upcoming season of Quidditch!!! The meeting will be in STSS 220 on Sunday, September 8th at 1:00pm sharp! Afterwards there will be a demonstration of Quidditch that anyone and everyone (that attended the meeting) will be able to participate in!!
In preparation for the end of the year, and the beginning of a new season, Minnesota Quidditch hosted their annual elections last Sunday. The newly elected board of officers for the 2013-14 school year is as follows:
President - Taylor Zastrow Vice President - Cody Narveson Secretary - Tim Ohlert Treasurer - Jared Sipe Public Relations - Kayla Millard Event Coordinator - Natalie Bodin Travel Coordinator - Carly Eichten Outreach Coordinator - Trevor Atherton
We also ran our first-ever captains elections. The results are as follows: Chaser Captain: Jared Sipe Beater Captain: Tim Ohlert The new President elect (Taylor Zastrow) will join Jared and Tim as a third captain.
Congratulations to our newly elected leadership! We anticipate a great year of Quidditch ahead of us!
Has anyone started a league in the twin cities outside of U of M? Meaning: I've graduated! Where are all the other graduated quidditch players?
We are unaware of any community teams in the area, however Minnesota Quidditch is open to non-university students! We have a few graduate level players that have stuck around this year— and you can, too! Spring League starts up in late March, so for more in-depth information regarding info meetings, registration, and games, keep watch here or at our facebook page: facebook.com/umnquidditch
Our intramural league requires no try outs! Simply come to our info meeting and registration to join spring league this semester! To keep updated on specific dates and times, you can keep watch on this page or like us on Facebook at facebook.com/umnquidditch
